JD(S) state president A Krishnappa died of heart attack in Bangalore on Wednesday. He was 68.  Backward classes leader and former minister, Krishnappa, had contested the April 17 Lok Sabha polls from Tumkur and awaiting results.

A backward classes leader, Krishnappa had taken over as JD(S) state unit chief in September last year. Krishnappa was with the Congress for over three decades but had shifted his loyalties to JDS after he was denied the ticket to contest the Assembly polls in May last year.
